logo (2)If you’re from Pittsburgh you might be familiar with the Primanti Bros. restaurant, which originated in the city during the Great Depression and has been there ever since. Joe Primanti started his sandwich business with just a cart in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. He stood outside during all hours of the night selling sandwiches to tired truckers traveling through the area. After such positive responses to his sandwich cart, Joe Primanti partnered with his brothers Dick and Stanley, and his nephew John DePriter, to open a small storefront on 18th street. The first Primanti Bros. was officially in business, serving food from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. to the hardworking folks of Pittsburgh during the Great Depression. Little did these brothers know Primanti Bros. would eventually become a keystone in the city of Pittsburgh and expand into a chain stretching down the entire east coast.

Just over a year ago a new Primanti Bros. location popped up in Downtown State College and has been a favorite for students, parents and anyone else looking for good food and a great atmosphere. The State College Primanti Bros. is a go-to for lunch, dinner and its half-off happy hour from 10 p.m. to midnight. The staff’s goal is to turn every customer into a fan by providing fun, fast, energetic and engaged service. The restaurant always tries to provide fun events throughout the week for its customers including: trivia on Mondays, Karaoke on Tuesdays, and hosting DJs on the weekends. The menu offers many tasty dishes that always keep customers coming back for more!

The Primanti Bros. sandwiches are a keystone menu item. What makes them so unique are the crunchy fries and tasty coleslaw slapped between two huge pieces of fresh Italian bread. Of course other ingredients are included to make these sandwiches delicious, but the fries and slaw are what truly make a signature Primanti Bros. sandwich. Aside from the signature sandwich, Primanti Bros. is also known for its loaded fries and tots, its homemade pizza and juicy wings. When it comes to drinks Primanti Bros. is famous for its Drunk Duck beverage, which comes with a complimentary rubber duck floating in your drink. Primanti Bros. offers a fun atmosphere every day of the week where customers always leave as fans!
