A local community staple, The Cheese Shoppe, has been offering State College residents fresh cheese and roasted coffee for over 40 years.
Owner William Clarke began his work focusing solely on cheese four decades ago, but saw a trend in the community and added his own twist by serving coffee as well, and The Cheese Shoppe became the first coffee shop to roast their own coffee in State College.
Today, Clarke serves up to twenty unique types of coffee, freshly roasted and brewed each day in his store located on Calder Ave. His store is unique in not only product selection but his commitment to the State College community and years of friendly service. Customers are responsible for pouring their own coffee and settling the bill, no questions asked. In addition to coffee and cheese, the Shoppe also sells chocolates, oils, vinegar and locally-baked breads. Clarke also takes online orders for all products.
