Experience the cool vibe of downtown State College during our monthly First Friday events.  A casual atmosphere features art, people-watching, mingling with friends, shopping, and dining at the diverse and delectable State College restaurants.  First Friday goers will experience after-hours access to galleries and shops, free bites and beverages, live music and entertainment, retail and restaurant specials, and more. And there’s free parking in the Pugh, Fraser and Beaver garages with validations from participating merchants.  Visit FirstFridayStateCollege.com for all the details.


The Fiddling Tomsons at Webster’s Bookstore and Cafe

Concert featuring fiddles, guitar, banjo, washboard playing cajun, Irish and Appalachian music followed by a jam with audience members. New Hampshire Father and Son duo, The Fiddling Thomsons will have two local performances Friday January 4th and Saturday, January 5th . On Friday, January 4th beginning at 7 p.m. they will perform on fiddles, guitar, penny whistle, accordion, jaw harp and vocals at Webster’s Bookstore Cafe, 133 East Beaver Ave, State College. Ryan and Brennish have toured through the US, in England and China. Their styles include Celtic, Appalachian, Cajun and international! After the concert, they will lead a jam with audience members. A $10 donation is suggested. Saturday they will lead workshops at A Taste Of Folk College to be held in Bellefonte.

 


 

Mindfulness Dance Workshop at The Central PA Dance Workshop

Do your New Year’s resolutions include spending time on personal well-being, reducing stress, promoting calm, and increasing self-awareness? In Dancing Mindfulness we practice the skills of mindfulness – gently bringing attention back to the present moment – with an invitation to pay particular attention to our bodies as they move with music. Join us for a First Friday Workshop to help you move and dance your way into a calmer, more peaceful New Year.

All ages and levels of dance experience are welcome.

Cost: $15 , $10/students, $8/current CPDW students

Socks or bare feet will be worn – no street shoes, please.

The giving season may be over, but you can still gift yourself at The Art Alliance Gallery Downtown Holiday Gift Gallery! The gallery will be open for First Friday, so check out all the wonderful art and crafts made by local artists and treat yourself!
