The Centre Communities Chapter of the American Red Cross has been helping residents to prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies since 1917. The chapter jurisdiction includes Centre County and the eastern portion of Clearfield County. The chapter collects approximately 17,000 units of blood each year for transfusion and patient therapy.
The Chapter also trains over 6,000 residents each year in CPR, first aid, water safety, lifeguard training, and babysitting. Through an emergency services program, chapter volunteers and staff members assist as many as 400 people each year with disaster relief, service to military families, and international services.
The Chapter is a private, non-profit organization supported by the community. It is a United Way member agency. In an emergency, residents can reach a Red Cross representative 24 hours/day; 365 days/year at (814) 237-3162.
