Years of experience as mechanics, commuters and racers led to the creation of Freeze Thaw Cycles in early 2003. Until May 2005, we operated out of our apartment, building recycled bikes in our spare time – providing a low-cost, fun entry into the wide world of cycling. We now serve the community full time from our new downtown location, working to promote cycling as an affordable and enjoyable form of transportation and recreation.
We specialize in recycled single speed, internally geared and fixed gear bikes built for a variety of on- and off-road uses. We can build you a unique, affordable and reliable bicycle designed specifically for your intended use.
We are a full service repair shop for all makes and models. We will stock a variety of new and used parts and accessories. Yes, we can build geared bikes. We are not elitists; we just firmly believe that derailleurless bikes provide the highest value and durability for most riders in most local riding conditions. Donations of working and non-working bicycles are accepted. We will buy and trade on a case by case basis.
Our bikes are built from quality recycled parts, but typically include several brand new parts to ensure functionality and durability. When you purchase a complete bicycle from Freeze Thaw, you are receiving a product that has been completely overhauled and tested before it can leave our shop.
