Spring Break is fast approaching which means I have a whole week of uninterrupted me time! Where else would I want to spend it than with my best gal pals in Downtown State College?

Fueling up for our adventure is crucial. Odds are that we’ll start our day at Irving’s for a bacon, egg, and cheese everything bagel and an SOB smoothie.

Our next stop would be The Branch and The Vine. It’s the perfect place to find gifts for people back home; I stock up for my mom, who loves a good balsamic vinegar.  Before we leave, we’ll exercise the benefits of being 21 and get University Wine Company slushies.

Slushies in tow, we’ll head to The Makery, which is not only BYOB but also BYOS (bring your own snacks). After giving Hazel, the shop dog, ample belly rubs, we’d enjoy a class or open studio time.  My favorite is hand lettering. To stock up on supplies, we could cross the street and visit The Nittany Quill for pens, stationary, and great gift ideas!

With plans to spend the evening Downtown, we’ll head over to Evolve Studio to get our hair done for the evening. The staff there is amazing and super knowledgeable. Even on my worst hair days, they always know just how to fix it. It’s the perfect place for a quick style for a night on the town.

Post hairdo happiness, we will hit up Federal Taphouse for dinner. Located above Target, a table here offers the perfect view of downtown. If you time it right, you can even catch the sunset! It’s making me emotional just thinking about it – just kidding, but it is making me hungry. They have delicious crab fries and an amazing list of draft beers.

There is no better way to top off a delicious meal than with something sweet, especially when you’re on a Staycation. I can’t count the number of times my friends and I decided dessert would be at Peace, Love & Little Donuts.  The menu is full of yummy, tiny options that they make in front of you as you order them. My personal favorite is the drool-worthy Oreo cheesecake donut.

After a quick outfit change, we’ll be ready to hit the town!  For a night of fun with friends, dancing, and Staycation memories, we’ll head to Bill Pickle’s Tap Room.  The atmosphere is relaxed and their kitchen open late, which is perfect when your Staycation cravings kick in again, insisting that mozzarella sticks, loaded tater tots, or chicken tenders are necessary.
