In The 100 Years Show, we follow Carmen Herrera as she approaches her 100th birthday. A pioneering abstract painter in the ’40s and ’50s, she has recently found the recognition that eluded her for most of her career. Directed by Alison Layman, the film follows Herrera’s life demonstrating the power of artistic vision to sustain itself. Anne Truitt Working presents a short portrait of artist Anne Truitt (1921-2004) speaking about the course and meaning of her work. Filmed in and around her studio at the Yaddo artist colony, as well as at her home studio in Washington D.C. by Director Jem Cohen. Films selected by artist Pete Schulte to pair with his exhibition A Letter Edged in Black 6: We’re Finally on Our Own. Popcorn provided.
