Experience the cool vibe of downtown State College during our monthly First Friday events.  A casual atmosphere features art, people-watching, mingling with friends, shopping, and dining at the diverse and delectable State College restaurants.  First Friday goers will experience after-hours access to galleries and shops, free bites and beverages, live music and entertainment, retail and restaurant specials, and more. Visit Webster’s Bookstore Cafe to join in on the book release party for award-winning author Robin Becker’s newest book, The Black Bear Inside of Me. 7:30-9:30 pm.

 

 

 

 

Check out Appalachian Outdoors from 5-8! Mount NitaNee Kombucha will be offering tastings of their latest delicious Kombucha. KidTech Centre County will be keeping the kids and kids at heart happy, and Joyce Hoffman with Life’s Abundance will be in the store with samples and products.

 

 

 

 

The Expect More Store presents the work of local artist Jennifer Shuey during First Friday! Stop by to view her original pastels and enjoy cheeses, wine, and beer. The Annual Art Alliance Recycled Show 2018: Green Is The New Black opens on April 6th from 5-8pm. Come see the Recycled Art Show is in its twenty-fourth year of inspiring environmental and artistic goals for Central Pennsylvania artists. Entry to the show is not juried and is open to artists of all ages! The show till run through April 29th.

 

Head to The Makery to join the State College Area High School National Art Honor Society for a First Friday event on April 6 from 5:00-7:00 to ‘Create for a Cause’. The NAHS students are preparing multiple art stations in which participants can make, play and experiment with a variety of mediums: painting, clay, origami, jewelry-making and more. There will also be face painting, snacks and a caricature artist! The cost is $10 per child. All proceeds will go towards the SCASD NAHS and Centre County PAWS!

 

 

The Community Diversity Group celebrates Immigrant Entrepreneurs in Centre County. Please join in on the discussion, meet some  diverse immigrant neighbors and learn about their stories and lived experience. The evening will include brief remarks, refreshments and lively round-table discussion with immigrant friends from the community. 5:30 at the State College

 

 

 

Artist reception hosted by Lobby Artists Dave Stone & Kelly Hoover.  Also,  if patrons come to the theater during First Friday and purchase a ticket to our April 30th Deer Tick show, they can purchase a discounted second ticket, with $5 off the ticket price.

Join the Central Pennsylvania Dance Workshop for a West African Dance Workshop. Learn some high energy elements of African dance and a short combination traditionally done in parts of West Africa. The workshop will be held at the CPDW Studio – 101 S. Fraser St. Admission is $15, $10/Students, $8/CPDW Students. All ages and skill levels are welcome, socks or bare feet only – no shoes!

Stop by Old State Clothing Co. to see Denise Kaminsky, author of the book “Nittany Lion and THON.” Light refreshments will be provided, 5-8 pm.  Also, local band Troubadork will be playing from 5-7 p.m.
