Opening Reception for Jan Riggio

5:00- 8:00 pm

On Friday, the Downtown Improvement District will be holding an opening reception for artist Jan Riggio.

Riggio is a native of Pennsylvania and an art teacher in the Bald Eagle Area School District. She spent many of her career years living in South Florida having taught in Palm Beach County. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Penn State University and a Master of Education from Florida Atlantic University.

For the past twenty years Riggio would describe her teaching and art career as a journey of observation. She believes that one is absorbed into the environment in which they are found. Riggio’s discovery took the form of observing shadows and painting with the earth. These discoveries became integrated in her teaching curriculum. There have been many opportunities for her to impart this information to not only her art followers but her students.

The artwork will remain in the Downtown Improvement District for viewing for both October and November.

Open Photo by Dylan John Western

3 Dots Downtown presents Eric Ian Farmer as he performs music throughout the night inside of the gallery among the other fun activities that will occurring.

Eric Ian Farmer, born in State College but raised in North Carolina, returned to his birthplace to share his music. He began his musical journey with the help of church members from his church during his childhood and keeps alive classics by artists like Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Bob Marley, and and others that inspired him. He also plays the guitar which is inspired by percussive styling of rock legend Bo Diddley. Eric also uses music with high school students to facilitate both songwriting and conversation related to identity and social issues.

3 Dots will also team up with the Comic Swap, Inc. community and local gaming groups to have a wide range of games from super complicated board games to quicker and lighter party games. Depending on your style, you may end up joining one of their tournament tables, or just stopping to learn a new game for a few minutes.
