Experience the cool vibe of downtown State College during our monthly First Friday events.  A casual atmosphere features art, people-watching, mingling with friends, shopping, and dining at the diverse and delectable State College restaurants.  First Friday goers will experience after-hours access to galleries and shops, free bites and beverages, live music and entertainment, retail and restaurant specials, and more. Felted Soaps and Stamped Pendants

Stop by The Makery for some handmade felted soaps and stamped pendants on November 1st. Hand felt 2 soaps are $15 and hand stamped 2 aluminum pendants/gift tags/key chains are $15. To make both the soaps AND pendants are $25. All ages are welcome! Register here for the event.

Jana Marie Foundation Exhibit

The Expect More Store presents “Expressions” by Jana Marie Foundation during First Friday! Stop by to view this art exhibit and enjoy cheeses, wine, and beer.

Since its incorporation in February 2012, Jana Marie Foundation has devoted its energy to opening minds and saving lives through educational programming and community mobilization to empower young people in the Centre County region. The mission of Jana Marie Foundation is to harness the power of dialogue and creative expression to spark conversations, build connections, and promote the mental well-being among young people and their communities.


Caryn Dixon at McLanahan’s Downtown Market

Don’t miss the indie-folk-pop sounds of Caryn Dixon, performing at McLanahan’s Downtown Market Allen Street from 6-8 pm during First Friday!


 David Whiteman Exhibit and Reception at The State Theatre

5:30 – 7:00 pm

Artist David Whiteman is displaying his work and holding a reception in the theatre lobby and is open to the public.   This exhibit will feature Whitema’s new prints from Ecuador and other local shots taken this year. The State Theatre is also offering 10% off the ticket price to Blues, Brews, and BBQ Featuring Sonny Landreth with Cindy Cashdollar when you purchase tickets at The State Theatre during our First Friday event.


  Flamenco Dance Workshop @ the Central PA Dance Workshop

6:00- 7:00 pm

The weather is getting colder, so come inside to warm up with some Flamenco! Join the Central Pennsylvania Dance Workshop for a Flamenco Dance Workshop during November’s First Friday on November 1 from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM at the CPDW Studio, 101 S Fraser St.

No experience necessary. Beginners and all ages welcome. Workshop is $15/admission, $10/students, $8/current CPDW students. Dance shoes or socks required – no street shoes may be worn on the dance floor!

Draw on the Walls with Woskob

Inspired by Folded Section, Woskob Family Gallery will be drawing on the walls for First Friday! Help them create a collaborative large-scale drawing which explores the themes of place and community.

Jim Colbert @ 3 Dots Downtown

Stop by 3 Dots Downtown on Friday for some live music by Jim Colbert and other fun activities!

Jim Colbert is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Bellefonte, PA and has played in venues from Massachusetts to Texas, including local gigs at First Night State College, Summer’s Best Music Festival, and The Acoustic Brew Concert Series. Colbert performs originals with subject matter ranging from playwright Eugene O’Neill, Centralia’s mine fire, vintage Triumph motorcycles and old Buicks to a host of selections about his home town of Johnstown, and so much more. Colbert’s songs offer a cross section of Americana seen through the eyes of a life-long Pennsylvanian.


Ten Thousand Villages Pop Up Shop at New Leaf Initiative

Enjoy a Ten Thousand Villages Pop Up Shop at New Leaf Initiative during First Friday! Taproot Kitchen will be providing snacks with and Ethiopian flavor, and mentors from Score will be on site to share their business acumen. So get a head start on your holiday shopping, check out this beautiful community coworking space, glean ideas for Thanksgiving dinner and support your local Non-Profits. 10% of profits from pop-up will go to Taproot Kitchen and New Leaf Initiative.


First Friday at Cape Escape
