First Friday State College

 

Experience the fire and ice of this month’s First Friday event!   Participating stores will enchant your night with entertainment, specials and light refreshments.  Also be on the lookout for ice luminaries on the eve of Light Up State College.

Warm up at our fire pit located at the info booth by Schlow Library with free popcorn from the Borough of State College! A big thanks for the donation of firewood by Parsons Firewood, and Pennwood Home and Hearth for the fire pits!

The Makery: Hand lettering workshop from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and 8:00-9:30 p.m. for $55 per person (materials provided). This workshop will teach basic letter forms and styles.  Space is limited, so pre-registration is recommended.

Old State Clothing Company: Free hot chocolate and snacks. Pick up your luminary kit for Saturday’s “Light Up State College” record breaking event!

Webster’s Bookstore Cafe: A book launch party for Sarah K. Stephens and her new book “A Flash of Red”. Refreshments will be served while a reading of the book takes place and author signing.

Appalachian Outdoors: “Free U” discussion outdoor activities for the winter season from 7-8 p.m.

The Art Alliance Gallery Downtown: Featuring “In Memories & Mindscapes, seven Centre County artists investigate the role of fantasy, imagination, memories, and nostalgia in their work. Translating this central theme through a variety of artistic media, this contemplative exhibition explores the complexities of how we realize the past and the imagined in our own minds. “Memories and Mindscape” will be on view until February 26.

The Expect More Store: Featuring the Melinda Curley Art Exhibit from 5-7 p.m. Enjoy abstract acrylic paintings with wine, beer and hors d’oevres.

The State Theater: 3 Names Presents “The Flicker” on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

The Betsy Rodgers Allen Gallery at Schlow Library: Displaying watercolors by local artist, Lena Thynell. Opening Friday, February 3 from 3-5 p.m!
