Leprechaun Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger Hunt IconThe Downtown Improvement District is celebrating March with a Leprechaun Scavenger Hunt! Here’s what is happening; participants will pick up a clue card and little black kettle at the First Friday Info Booth.  Each clue on the card will lead the participants to a participating downtown business where they will search for a hidden leprechaun.  Once they find the leprechaun they receive a chocolate coin from the business. When they find at least 10, they go to a final location (as instructed on the card)to pick up an Insomnia cookie or be entered in a drawing for one of three Downtown Gift Cards.

Make Your Own Book at the Woskob Family Gallery!

FirstFridayKristina Davis is a Printmaker/Book Artist from Philadelphia hosting an interactive First Friday event to visitors of the Woskob Family Gallery. Kristina will offer a quick tutorial and materials for a pamphlet stitch handmade book. Visitors will be able to choose the elements for their own pamphlet book as well as sew and decorate for a keepsake to record the best parts of First Friday art events with friends and family! The workshop can be completed, from start to finish, in about 15 minutes but participants are welcome to stay and get creative on the pages of their handmade book!

“In Focus” Opening Reception at the Art Alliance Gallery Downtown

Art Alliance Gallery Downtown’sMountain art alliance newest exhibition, In Focus, features six Centre County photographers as they invite us to see the world through their lenses. With a variety of interests and subject-matter, this exhibition explores the diverse aesthetics of our lives and brings the beauty of our world into focus.

 

“Pattern Recognition” Exhibit at the Woskob Family Gallery

Pattern Recognition draws inspiration from the pervasiveness of pattern in our world: from our brains to our clothes, from the movements of the tides to those of machines, the repetition of units — pixels, threads, neurons or otherwise — pattern is an organizing factor that underlies much of daily life.

Curated by gallery director Ann Tarantino, this exhibit features works by 24 contemporary artists that engage with the themes of patterns of nature, patterns of culture, and patterns of space.  First Friday, March 3rd is the final day of the exhibition, so be sure to stop in and see it while you can.
