Calder ways own Pop-up Event inside and in front of The Branch and The Vine, Avant Garden, and Funky Trunk from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Featuring vendors from The Original Pop-up Ave such as Contempo Jewelry, Homegrown Flavor Company, and Still not a Hippie, as well as some brand new vendors of their own.

Teacup Succulent Workshop at the Makery

Join us for a super-fun First Friday Teacup Succulent Workshop at The Makery from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.! Enjoy elegant adult refreshments while learning the basics of succulent planting, with a variety of teacups or small cups and succulents to choose from, as well as tips you will need to help your succulent thrive. The Makery will also be having an open studio from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Stop by!

 

Mid Century Memories Panel Discussion

Schlow LogoAs part of their 60th Anniversary celebration, the Schlow library will host a panel discussion from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in the Downsbrough Community Room. Katie O’Toole, president of the Centre County Historical Society, moderates a panel of longtime State College residents, including Lee Stout, Galen Dreibelbis, Timmy Weinstein Shanahan, and Linda Chambers Domin. The panel will discuss life in State College when Schlow Memorial Library opened in 1957.

A Letter Edged in Black 6: We’re Finally On Our Own Art Exhibit

Woskob GalleryThe Woskob Family Gallery is featuring the artist, Pete Schulte, in his ongoing series, A Letter Edged in Black.

 

 

 

 

Otherworldly Landscapes Exhibit

Using only recycled materials in her artwork, local artist Jami Joelle Nielsen debuts her science-fiction themed collage art series “Otherworldly Landscapes” at Schlow Library’s Betsy Rodgers Allen Gallery. On display for the month of June, the opening reception will be held coinciding with First Fridays on June 2nd, from 4:30-5:30 in Schlow Library’s Gallery and Community Room B. Art exhibit is available for viewing only during the days/hours that Schlow Library is open. A portion of art sales will be donated to Schlow Library. Family friendly and inclusive event.

 

Stratified Exhibit

The Art Alliance Gallery will host their opening reception of the exhibit, Stratified, from 7:00 – 9:00.  Seven contemporary artists explore the ways in which layering and pentimenti processes can be used to create complex, beautiful things. Ranging in media, style, and concept, these works use painterly techniques, printmaking, collage, found and collected objects, and photo-transfer to depict depth born from the process of repeated application.

 

Olga Katova Exhibit

The Douglas Albert Gallery will be featuring “vibrant, bucolic landscape acrylic pieces on canvas by Russian-born Toronto-based artist Olga Katova”.

 

Helen Maser

Helen Maser’s artwork will be on display in the lobby of the State Theatre. She will also host a small reception from 5 – 7 p.m.

Your Blues Ain’t Sweet Like Mine

Penn State Theatre presents Your Blues Ain’t Sweet Like Mine at the Penn State Downtown Theatre Centre starting at 7:30 p.m. In this play by the Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson, an Upper West Side dinner party invitation brings an unlikely assortment of people together, spawning an explosive debate on Americans and race.  Tickets are $25.
