The State College Choral Society will present the PA premiere of the YIZKOR REQUIEM by American composer Thomas Beveridge.
Thomas Beveridge was inspired to compose Yizkor Requiem: A Quest for Spiritual Roots initially as a memorial to his father, Lowell Beveridge, who was for many years the organist and choirmaster at Columbia University’s St. Paul’s Chapel. A distinctly ecumenical and interfaith concert work that touches on some of the parallel features and common ground between Christianity and Judaism, Yizkor Requiem combines, integrates, and juxtaposes elements of Roman Catholic and Judaic liturgies. There will be a preconcert lecture by the composer at 3 PM. The concert also includes music by Mendelssohn and Brahms. Tickets may be purchased from the Society’s website or at the door the day of the concert
