Note: During the talk 4oz samples of different Porter & Stout beer styles will be available together with further discussions and sampling during the social time. Please bring proper ID if you are interested in sampling the beers.

State College Homebrew Club are proud to present our second talk in the series on ‘The Art and Science of Beer’. This time we feature ‘Porters & Stouts’ in which we aim to share both beer and brewing knowledge with Craft Beer enthusiasts and anyone interested in finding out more about Home Brewing.

Everyone has heard of Guinness, which is probably the world’s most famous Stout, but do you know the difference between a Porter, a Stout, and a Stout Porter? How many variations of Porters and Stouts are there and what are the differences between these beers? Are you interested in the origins in the various styles as well as the ingredients used and brewing techniques plus various other relevant information?

These questions and more will be answered by members of this very active local homebrew club.

State College Homebrew Club was established in 2012 and currently has over 280 members holding monthly meetings attended by 25-30+ local home brewers. The club regularly pours diverse styles of beer at a variety of events across Central Pennsylvania supporting local charitable organizations.
