Have you ever stood in front of a contemporary work of art and wondered what you were supposed to see in it? Some art feels so far removed from our everyday experience that it can seem hard to understand. But you don’t have to be an artist, curator, or historian to engage with and appreciate contemporary artworks in a gallery.

Join us for a crash course in contemporary art and appreciation, a workshop with Art Alliance Gallery Downtown‘s Manager Kelsey Rieger, where you’ll learn new ways of looking, thinking, and interacting with the artwork of our time. This workshop will address what contemporary art is, how to view it, and how to find artwork that speaks to you as a viewer when you visit a new gallery or exhibition.
