The State Theatre’s 80th Anniversary Celebration
October 1 @ 8:00 am - October 31 @ 10:00 pm
The State Theatre was opened as a Warner Brothers theatre on October 15th 1938 and spent 63 years as a cinema before closing in 2001. The State Theatre reopened as a non-profit performing arts center in 2006. We are celebrating the 80th anniversary of our historic home throughout the month of October. Don’t miss your chance to join in the celebration at any of our events listed below, or stop by any day in October to check out our 80th anniversary lobby installation.
First Friday | Friday, October 5th from 5-7 pm: Help us celebrate our anniversary during October’s First Friday event! Check out our lobby installation, sign our State Theatre communi-tree, vote on future programming, enjoy entertainment by Totem Pole & CPDW and help us eat our birthday cake! We will also offer BOGO (buy one ticket, get one free) tickets to our screening of The Sisters on October 15th for patrons that purchase their tickets at The State Theatre during our First Friday event.
Theatre Tour | Sunday, October 14th at 1:30 pm: Join our projectionist John Guss for a behind the scenes look at our historic building. John has worked at our theatre for over a decade and loves sharing his knowledge about the history of The State Theatre. Please register in advance by following the link below so that we can accommodate interest and add tours as needed.
Screening of The Sisters | Monday, October 15th at 3 and 7 pm: The Sisters, starring Bette Davis and Errol Flynn, was the first film screened at the theatre when it opened in 1938. We are bringing the film back as part of our Monday Movie Series in celebration of our 80th anniversary.
Members Poster Sale | Wednesday, October 17th from 2-7 pm: Members can purchase a piece of the theatre’s history during our members poster sale! We will have a selection of autographed 11 x 17 versions of past marquee posters for sale with some full-sized marquee posters available too. Please note that this perk is typically only available to those with Assistant Director & Director level memberships, but in celebration of our home’s 80th birthday we are inviting all members to attend.
