The perfectly warm and sunny weather on September First Friday matched the great atmosphere for the fun event! There was great music, free food, fun activities, and so much more! Did you miss this month’s First Friday? Not to worry, here’s a recap of everything that happened!

The Pete Kilpatrick Band came all the way down from Maine to perform some amazing music for the people roaming the streets of downtown State College. Andrew Jackson & Friends also played some beautiful music along the Tavern walkway.

The Expect More Store presented the work of local artist, Jack Mernin. The bank was filled with smiling faces who were appreciating the paintings whilst chatting with friends, enjoying the music, and eating some delicious, free snacks and drinks.

The Art Alliance Gallery Downtown held the opening reception of their new art collection called In and Out of Focus. The show is presented by Art Alliance and the State College Photography Club, and you can still stop in to take a look at it from now until September 29th .

The Makery hosted an anniversary party to celebrate FOUR years of creative classes, parties, and events in downtown State College. Many families came to celebrate with them and create art at the 12 different stations the store had with 12 different Markery instructors.

The Woskob Family Gallery displayed their fall exhibition called Folded Section. The original white wall was transformed into a geographical map of the local landscape. The exhibit will remain open to the public until January 10, 2020.

3 Dots Downtown had various events throughout the night in celebration of gratitude. They started out with a Thankathon, which was a time for people to write thank you cards to anyone they wanted. They moved on to open mic for people to read the cards that they wrote or any poetry they wanted that followed the theme of gratitude. Then, they created a replica of the Mothership, a performance prop used by Dr. Funkenstein during the 70’s to the 90’s, to show appreciation and gratitude to the power of Funk culture and Black representation. 3 Dots ended the night with a fun and epic Funk dance party for all!

Spats at the Grill, The Corner Room, Bill Pickle’s Tap Room, and Chumley’s all offered 15% off of their food if you mentioned First Friday. Appalachian Outdoors offered some free refreshments and drinks, and Lion’s Pride gave away some free buttons to celebrate Penn State football.

Thank you to everyone who came out to join us for First Friday and all of the businesses that held events and made it such a wonderful night!  Enjoy some of the  photos we took at the event, and we hope to see you next month on October 4th for October’s First Friday!
