Valentine’s Day prep For Him:

It’s February 14th and you realize how behind you are on your planning of the day. To ensure your loved one is pleased on Valentine’s Day, we have comprised some simple steps in order to make this day one to remember!

Start off your morning with breakfast from Sowers Harvest Café, and maybe even surprise your loved one with his or her favorite item. A small act to show your special someone you care is a great way to begin this day of love.

Whether you’re planning on having a special date night out, or an intimate night in, you’ll have to prep yourself first. We suggest Badger and Hound barber, where you can get a new fresh look for the evening, and also enjoy a drink to get rid of the date night nerves.

Looking your best will also help you feel your best for this day, and F45 training will leave you feeling energized and ready to take on the rest of the day!

Next, to get your best outfit ready for date night with your special someone we have just the spots to check out! Harper’s Clothing, H&M, and Connections feature nice clothing for men that will be sure to impress.

Valentine’s Day prep For Her:

You wake up on Valentine’s Day and the expectations are high. No matter how you plan on celebrating with the one you love, we have some pre-celebration places you need to go to.

Start the morning off with a little bit of relaxation time by heading over to Designer’s Denn Salon & Spa. Here is your one spot stop to get your hair and nails done, and then enjoy a signature massage or facial afterwards. Don’t forget to book your appointment in advance!

Then we suggest yoga to continue this morning of self-love, and luckily State College has a few great options of where to head. Lila Yoga, Yoga Lab, and Yoga in State College are some great options for anyone ranging from beginners to advanced yogis!

Finally, we in State College have some fantastic options for women’s clothing that can be utilized when celebrating. Affordable and cute clothing can be purchased at Three Little Birds Boutique, which has recently opened downtown and where one can seek advice from the store’s owner and the rest of the team on the best and most flattering looks. Some other great places to head for your date night outfit can be Metro and Barefoot Shoes, as well as Appalachian Ski & Outdoor if you’re planning on enjoying a more sporty date.

Where to meet for dinner:

The classic date night is a common way to go, so if you’re unsure where to take your date then you have come to the right place! For a romantic dinner, we suggest making reservations at Federal TapHouse, Liberty Craft House, or Spats at the Grill. Each of these options provides a trifecta of great service, great food, and great beer on tap!  Also, be sure to check out The Tavern Restaurant and their happy hour specials.

Alternatives for those who want to spend the night in:

First stop is Kitchen Kaboodle to pick up some candles to make your home feel more romantic. Then, any good Valentine’s Day involves a bouquet of flowers, so make sure to stop by one of your local florists, Avant Garden or Woodring’s Floral Gardens for the best selection. Order in your favorite comfort food, and whether your go-to place is BRGR, Uncle Chen’s, Five Guy’s Burgers, or Pita Cabana Grill your loved one is sure to be pleased! Have a movie ready to go and wine on deck from McLanahan’s Downtown Market and this romantic night in will be a hit! But, don’t forget about dessert. We’re lucky enough to have places like Insomnia Cookies, Happy Buns, or Duck Donuts to end the night with something sweet.

Spots for those seeking a less traditional date night:

Dinner dates are not everyone’s go to, so we have some more eventful date ideas ready for those not set on your typical valentines date. Interested in crafting and artistry? Then 2000 degrees is the place for you to go with your loved one and paint each other a gift from the heart and small tokens to remember the day.

Escape Room State College or What-A-Blast Laser Tag are some more creative spots to spend time with your loved one this Valentine’s Day. Escape Room offers low prices of $25 per person for an hour long activity, but try to book in advance to ensure your spot this February 14th! What-A-Blast Laser tag also features the affordable price of $13 per person for an hour long session for those seeking a more competitive and fun day.

And, if you and your loved one are just looking to spend some time alone enjoying the nature and scenery of State College, we suggest a hike up Mount Nittany. But don’t forget to stop by Rapid Transit Sportswear for the best selection of sneakers and Penn State gear!

Last minute gift stop:

Last but definitely not least is the gift. Getting the perfect gift for this holiday is essential, as it shows if you have really been listening to your partner for the last 365 days. But fear not, we have comprised a list of hot spots to get a great gift for all types on Valentine’s Day.

For fine jewelry options, we have both MISKA Jewelers and Reini Goldsmiths & Jewelers to meet your needs. Both offer options that will be sure to make your loved one feel special.

If you’re unsure on what exactly to get, do not worry! Just get a gift card from Downtown State College that will be valid for over 100 businesses and will be sure to be used by your significant other.
