The College Town Film Festival returns to Happy Valley this week!

This traveling film festival finds extraordinary movies, and with the cooperation of top notch film, media, and acting programs at major universities, rolls into town with one purpose: to rally around independent film.

The festival runs from Wednesday, March 16th to Saturday, March 19th. Films and other events will be held at participating downtown locations including: Appalachian Outdoors, the State Theatre and Café 210 West. Admission is free with any student I.D. Events at The State Theatre cost $4 for non-students. Tickets can be bought online at http://thestatetheatre.org/college-town-film-festival-2/.

Some of the participants are filmmakers, some are academics, and some are Hollywood veterans who think today’s independent filmmakers are getting a raw deal. All of the participants in the College Town Film Festival are dedicated to building an event that can serve as a launching pad for movies that deserve an audience, directors who deserve a voice, and actors who deserve a look. The idea is simple; to increase communication and collaboration between the academic, creative, and business sectors of independent film. The College Town Film Festival is striving to accomplish this one college town at a time.
