The Downtown State College Improvement District is proud to present the paintings of local artist Donna Lawrence. The exhibit, Adventurous Views, will be on display in our office at 127 S Fraser St in State College until the end of December. Stop by for the opening during First Friday on November 5 from 5-8pm, and meet the artist!

Art has been a lifelong endeavor for Donna, who picked up her first paintbrush as a young girl. These days, she works in acrylic paint and draws much stylistic inspiration from Vincent Van Gogh. In Adventurous Views, Donna showcases acrylic renderings of naturals scenes that she has photographed in her travels. As she says, “there is beauty everywhere you go and my camera is with me at all times because you never know what might be out there waiting to be captured on film that I can turn into a painting.”

Also on display as part of the collection is a painting titled “The Sun”. Donna created this painting at the suggestion of her father, an avid watcher of CBS Sunday Morning. The weekly morning show selects and displays images of viewer-submitted sun artworks. In what she calls it her “3 seconds of fame,” Donna’s sun aired on the national broadcast in 1999 and continues to be shown on the program periodically. Come down to our office to see “The Sun”, along with the rest of Adventurous Views!
