The Downtown State College Improvement District is working to make this holiday season one of the most festive and decorative seasons to date! Light Up Downtown will include several locations enhanced with lights, greenery and decoration’s. We’re creating a winter wonderland that encourages the community to come downtown and enjoy a safe festive walking tour. Come downtown, grab some take out and knock out some holiday shopping! We thank you for supporting local this holiday season, our businesses need you!

Light Up Downtown will be on display from November 20 through January 1, 2021! 

We ask that you respect the borough ordinance and wear a face mask during your visit

 

-Fraser Street:

MLK Plaza  – Enjoy a musical timed lighting show, take a family photo in front of the photo booth mural – Don’t forget to post it with #LightUpDowntown!

-Allen Street:

Allen Street Gates – Don’t miss the chance to see the tree at the Allen Street Gates all lit up for the holidays!

-Locust Lane:

Stop down to the corner of College and Locust, support our local non-profits and vote on your favorite decorated tree! 10 local non-profits will participate in the Enchanted Forest tree decorating challenge…the winner will receive $1,000! Scan the QR code on your favorite tree and vote by December 6! Take a photo at our second photo booth mural…and don’t forget the hashtag!

 

December 4 from 5-8pm, December 5 from 1-4pm, December 11 from 5-8pm and December 12 from 1-4pm…Enjoy these activities to make your downtown holiday experience complete:

  • Jump on a free trolley (sponsored by Northwest Bank) that runs from Fraser Street to Locust Lane and back. Masks are required, seating will be socially distanced and sanitation measures will be followed.
  • Take advantage of our FREE gift wrapping station located in the MLK Plaza – provided by the State College Downtown Rotary Club
  • Grab some hot cocoa in the MLK Plaza – provided by the State College Downtown Rotary Club
  • Enjoy a Downtown Art Walk on December 4 & 5
