Science On Tap: Power, Gender, and Societal Responses to Uppity Women hosts Dr. Theresa Vescio from the Penn State Psychology and Women’s Studies Department

Recently, the #MeToo movement renewed public discourse concerning the long-standing issue of sexism and how it has pervaded our culture

How do we appropriately address and discuss sexism? Furthermore, how do address these issues in a way which promotes positive change rather than hate and further division?

Dr. Vescio will talk about her work on power and sexism by addressing four questions. What are idealistic notions of masculinity? When are women threatening and perceived to be uppity? How do people respond to “uppity” women? How do we support and nurture the performing women we value?

Please join us for our next Science On Tap event to learn how and engage in discussion
